All About QBV

And the amazing beauty of Portugal

The Perfect Destination

Tucked away on Portugal’s spectacular Silver Coast and perched on the slopes of its own 4-acre wooded valley, Quinta do Bom Vento is a traditional Portuguese smallholding. Now fully renovated, QBV offers tasteful and distinctive self-catering holiday rental accommodation just 8km from medieval Óbidos. In less than an hour’s drive from Lisbon Airport (or 2.5 hours from Porto), you can be relaxing on your private terrace with a glass of excellent Portuguese wine in hand, gazing at the panoramic vista, and surrounded by nothing more hectic than birds, butterflies, and the rustle of leaves in the breeze.

The décor, quality of linens, and attention to detail reflect that we treat our quintinhas not as vacation rentals but, rather, as homes. Each offers individual furnishings and a comfortable bed (or beds!) that you will relish snuggling into. Free Wifi, satellite TV, and Bluetooth speakers allow you to ‘switch on’ if you wish, but we believe the peace and tranquility of this valley will encourage you to relax and switch off.

All of the units have their own private entrances, and each has an outdoor space with BBQ. Every accommodation has its own private bathroom and a comprehensive, well-equipped kitchen: many guests comment that there are more gadgets here than in their own homes. A complimentary guest laundry and free on-site parking are also provided.

Usually I’m sceptical when I see 9.8 scores on Booking.com or Tripadvisor. Quinta do Bom Vento deserves every one of their hundreds of stellar reviews.

Quinta do Bom Vento is ideal for individuals as well as groups of up to 14 people who wish to spend time together but still have privacy. A protected central courtyard serves as the social hub and is the perfect place for a sunny breakfast, leisurely lunch, or relaxed drinks in the evening.

As well as delightful walks down through our own private valley filled with cork oaks and pine trees, there are miles of trails meandering off through the secluded woods of the adjoining valley, perfect for hiking or intrepid mountain biking. QBV is pet-friendly (on request), but if you don’t have your own four-legged friends, our BlackFace Gang of rescue Labrador x Retrievers, Scrabble & Bingo, will wag their tails very happily and join you.

Consider yourself lucky to have come across this ABSOLUTE gem. Quinta Bom Vento (QBV) is such a find! Our unit was lovely. The views from the "quintas" at QBV are spectacular! We enjoyed many amazing sunsets from our huge and private deck. And, the morning views, as well, are stunning with valley scenes of pear and apple orchards.

QBV is located less than 10 minutes from the medieval walled city of Óbidos as well as the more recent (but very intriguing) Buddha Eden. World-class surfing spots and perfect beginners’ beaches are within 25 minutes’ drive, and during the winter you can reach the monstrous, record-breaking waves at Nazaré in about 45 minutes. The same distance but further to the north will get you to the UNESCO World Heritage monastery at Alcobaça, and in one hour you can reach the UNESCO monastery at Batalha. Tomar, Coimbra, Sintra, Fatima, and Mafra are regular day trips for visitors based at QBV.

With such comfortable and well-equipped accommodation, and our knowledge, experience and contacts in this area, QBV has been a successful base for numerous overseas couples looking to move to this area. (However, if this is your plan, we strongly urge that you avoid the peak summer months when longer-term stays can be costly.)
