OUR STORY

We are Rich & SAM Malone (being a fan of the 80’s comedy series Cheers, how could I NOT marry my husband to get a name like that!), and we're fortunate enough to have travelled the globe. Our journeys were part for fun, in search of empty surfable waves, but also for work: during the last 15 years of our floating career, we worked as Captain & Chef to discerning guests on high-end charter yachts in the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Caribbean, and Pacific. Easterly and westerly crossings of the Atlantic completed our selection of names for our quintinhas. It seems fitting that, as sailors ourselves, we’ve made landfall in Portugal, with its rich seafaring history. Fate stepped in, and we found our perfect property in a village named Bom Vento: Good Wind. The ten-year renovation of Quinta Do Bom Vento has certainly not been plain sailing, but it has been a labour of love. With our background in the hospitality industry, where the expectations of the guest has been our priority, we understand the special touches that make your vacation comfortable, relaxing, and unforgettable. We have always enjoyed meeting people during our travels, and now we, along with Scrabble and Bingo (our rescued-from-a-shelter dogs), look forward to welcoming new two- and four-legged friends all aboard at QBV.
